in recent years, the main downstream of adipic acid in China is slurry, sole stock solution, nylon 66 salt, polyester polyol, TPU and other products. Due to the growth of the export volume of shoe leather enterprises in Southeast Asia in recent years, China's shoe leather export is facing challenges and other negative factors. It is said that the demand of the downstream sizing industry of the experimental machine system with various functions such as stretching, tortuosity and detection has decreased, while the demand for sole stock solution has remained at a low level. With the accelerated development of the downstream nylon 66 salt industry, its share in the downstream demand for adipic acid remained at about 31% in 2016, and there is room for continued growth in the future. However, considering that the adipic acid production capacity growth will accelerate in 2017 and the oversupply situation in the market will continue in the future, adipic acid still needs to develop new downstream organisms and will not stop working
the project of preparing hexanediol (HDO) by esterification and hydrogenation of adipic acid independently developed by the Institute of green chemical industry of Zhengzhou University received extensive attention from investors at the 18th China International High Tech Fair held not long ago. Researchers have developed a new copper based ester hydrogenation catalytic system and a fixed bed continuous hydrogenation process with high space velocity, low pressure and low hydrogen ester ratio for 4 years, forming the technology of esterification and hydrogenation of adipic acid to produce hexanediol. The process has low energy consumption and no pollution, and the esterification rate can reach 98%
hexanediol is a rising new fine chemical product, which is clearly proposed by the state to accelerate the development of chemical products. It has unique performance, can be mixed with organic chemicals in any proportion, is non corrosive, and can derive a series of new fine chemicals. Products with good application potential made of hexanediol and related materials include polyurethane elastomer, polycarbonate, polyester plasticizer, ester plasticizer, etc. The derivatives of hexanediol have good market potential and commercial value. The domestic demand for hexanediol has increased rapidly from 3000 tons/year in 2001 to 20000 tons/year in 2016, and has increased particularly rapidly in recent years, maintaining an annual growth rate of more than 20%. So far, there are three domestic manufacturers that actually produce hexanediol, and the production capacity from large to small is: Zhejiang Lishui Nanming Chemical Co., Ltd. (8000 tons/year), Liaoning Tianhua Chemical Co., Ltd. (5000 tons/year) and Fushun Tiantian Chemical Co., Ltd. (3000 tons/year)
although the actual total production capacity of domestic hexanediol is only 16000 tons/year at present, in the future, as the power battery industry with excess capacity of hexanediol falls into the throes of structural adjustment, the independent technology of preparing hexanediol from acid will be widely used. Under the broad application prospect of hexanediol, the new capacity of hexanediol will gradually increase, and it will become another emerging downstream industry of adipic acid after nylon 66 in the future
